The Mesquite Mountains

Augustus and I had an amazing time together today. I mean, it just doesn't get any better. He spent the first part of the morning playing with his Mustang buddy, Iceman, then we went off by ourselves on a nice two hour ride to the base of the Mesquite Mountain Range. The weather was perfect...warm and sunny with a slight breeze and barely a cloud in the sky.

The Mesquite Mountains are on the California side of Sandy Valley, and basically make up the western border of the Mesquite Valley from San Bernadino County to Inyo County. The area is all wilderness and you could ride all the way into Death Valley if you were packed and prepared enough.

"I can't think of nothing better than riding a fine horse through new country. It's what I was meant for.." - Augustus McCrae, Lonesome Dove

All of your photos are great, but the main profile picture with you lying down with Gus is one of the best pictures I've ever seen of ANYTHING!
